This message brought to you from seat 20H, British Airways flight 247 to São Paulo
So life got a bit busy. I’d left things a bit quiet on the old site, and for a while I thought we’d just live with the extended silence.
But of late I’ve realised something about myself:
My mind is going.
I find myself – at the worst times – grasping at thoughts, at words that are at the tip of my tongue. You know how you’re sometimes stuck mid-sentence because you’re searching for the right word? It usually comes to you about three seconds later; and you regain your captive audience. Me? It comes several minutes, hours, sometimes days after.
This could be one of two things. My memory is shit, and this could be its inevitable downward spiral.
Or.
My vocabulary is just kicking itself in the gut because I’ve done nothing for it lately. Read too few books. Wrote too few things that didn’t end with “please revert ASAP”.
I suspect it could be a bit of both, a lot of either, at any one time. But I am forgetting words, and how they should be put together.
Which is why I’m going to have another stab at this blogging thing. And because at 39000 feet in the air, having travelled for more than 30 hours, it all seems like a good idea.
(Also – I’m finally giving Arcade Fire a listen, and they’re not bad at all. Kelly Jones (Stereophonics frontman) also has a new album out, did you know?)
omg, she’s alive.
